Residential Care Worker
(Specialist in Deaf Residential Care)
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday [term time only]
Salary: £15,677 based on FTE of £16,188
Exeter Deaf Academy is about to embark on the most exciting Chapter in its 190 Year history, as it prepares to build a world class new Academy in Exmouth in April 2020.
This centre of excellence will change the lives of Deaf young people and their families.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed individual to provide care and Safeguard the welfare of our students, aged 4 – 25 years.
This is a great opportunity to be part of an inspiring team, whilst promoting the social, emotional wellbeing and development of the students. This role will give you a great opportunity to support our students in preparing them to develop their independent living skills, whilst supporting their education. We are looking for a dynamic individual who is self-motivated, resilient and able to work as part of a team working with children who are profoundly deaf and have additional needs.
In return this role will give you the opportunity to develop within a specialist care environment and be part of delivering life changing opportunities to our young people. You will also be given the opportunity if not already gained to achieve up to level 3 in British Sign Language qualification and undertake Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
The ideal candidate will have an experience of working within a residential environment, although this is not essential as full training will be provided.
This role with currently be Monday to Friday with the working hours below;
Monday 14.00 – 24.00
Tuesday 07.30 – 09.30 & 14.00 – 24.00
Wednesday 07.30 – 09.30 & 14.00 – 24.00
Thursday 07.30 – 09.30 & 14.00 – 24.00
Friday 07.30 – 09.30
There is the option for the member of staff to sleep at the academy and be paid a premium for doing so.
*We would also be happy to accept applications for job share (2 days and 2 days) with the view to pick up additional bank shifts where needed.*
